Team Guam sprinter Joseph Green hit a major milestone during the men's 100 meter race and his debut at the Olympics in Paris on Saturday.

The 22-year-old clocked his best time of the season finishing fifth out of the eight runners at 10.58 seconds inside the Stade de France.

"I'm feeling good. I feel like I still got more in the tank so if can run it back, let's run it back," said Green following his heat.

Naquille Harris, representing Saint Kitts and Nevis and also making his Olympic debut, finished first during their heat at 10.33 seconds.

"For debut, I definitely felt the nerves at the line...But I'll take it seasons best sub 11. Can't ask for anything better," Green said. "I'm looking forward to the next competition. Like I said there's more in the tank and i am ready to go - foot still on the pedal."

He's determined to make it to the next Olympics in 2028.

Green was one of the flag bearers during the opening ceremony.

He also participated in the 2022 Pacific Mini Games in Saipan and in the heats of the 100m at the 2023 World Championships, becoming the first runner from Guam to advance from the preliminary rounds.
