Judo athlete Maria Escano on her defeat at Paris Olympics: 'I'm going to come back stronger'

Team Guam's Maria Escano said she is going to come back stronger following her loss during her Judo match at the Olympics in Paris Monday.
Escano took to the mat inside the Champ de Mars arena competing against Mariana Esteves who was representing Guinea.
"I was just calm. I really did everything I could to prepare...She's a very strong Judo player," said Escano. "She outgripped me. That was the one thing. But I was able to get some of my hands on her. I tried to do a throw on my left. But at the end of the day she was just better than me. Something to look forward to and to work on."
Escano and Mariana are no stranger to one another both on and off the mat.
"We've fought in training camps before...She's also a good friend of mine," she said. "I think I had that never give up spirit as much as I could."
Escano thanks the people of Guam for the continued support, adding after this she wants to keep on going.
We are so proud of you, Maria!
Biba, Maria!
