Team Guam sends 4 swimmers to World Aquatics Championships in Doha

The World Aquatics Championships are being held in Doha. And our 4-person swim team is on a mission. They only know one speed: compete like they train.
Coach Don San Agustin told KUAM Sports, "You have to perform in practice, and it's it's a proven fact. I've seen it before. I tell swimmers all the time: what you do in the water, you're going to do in the meet."
These Team Guam swimmers are distinctly differently from each other, but all share a laser-like focus and know what they need to do. You may not see it on their expressions, but their game faces are on long way before they hit the pool.
Amaya Bollinger, who is swimming in the 100M and 200M butterfly heats, said, "Once you dive in and you feel the water that you've been training in for the past how many years, then you realize that you've swam this event so many times you know what to do like you're good you have it for sure."
Nothing rattles Izzy Poppe's laidback nature. Jimi Hendrix is the protective and mentoring older brother, and consummate teammate. Amaya Bollinger is methodical. And Mia Lee is jovial. Our team doesn't believe in predicting outcomes.
But they will guarantee how we'll compete.
Poppe said, "We're going to try to represent Guam the best we can, be good ambassadors, be friendly to all the other countries, make a lot of friends, and show them how good Guam is."
They're not at all strangers, having competed with and against each other for years, and this familiarity gives us a big advantage in the water.
