Zach Pangelinan, originally from northern Guam, made history as the first rugby player to be signed to a professional franchise. Now in his sixth season as a Houston Sabercat, the utility back is a chiseled veteran, and is practicing the Guamanian virtue of sharing wisdom and experience to his younger teammates.

He's embraced his changing role as big brother on his squad, and he's greatly looking forward to making history soon as the first game his suits-up for Houston this year will be his 50th, setting a team record for most appearances on the team.

He credits his island heritage for instilling in him a strong work ethic, loyalty and respect for others. He also shared a hilarious story about a team-building exercise where he made corn soup for his entire club. He's inspired an entire generation of rugby players on Guam to aim high, chase your dreams and never stop training.

Good luck, Zach, and congratulations on your trailblazing success!
