Alex Castro is heading to Thailand to compete in the Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship Thailand 4 event on December 10th. Castro will be the island’s first fighter to fight in a bare knuckle sanctioned event. Alex is scheduled to meet Gustaf Cedermalm in a Featherweight matchup.
"I know he’s a tough guy," Castro said. "He’s from Sweden. He has a 30-5 record. He’s done some Bare Knuckle fights before. He’s a banger but I’m a banger, too." He added, "I’m actually still overwhelmed. I obviously put in a lot of work. A lot of hard work to get to where I’m at. The last few years since I’ve been out. But I’m excited, making my debut on a Bare Knuckle level. I’m able to on an international level, represent my island and the people. "
It’s been a decade since he’s last fought in the cage. His last professional MMA fight was a unanimous decision win over Tony Reyes in Pacific Xtreme Combat 30.
Castro said, "This is my ticket into the US circuit. The agreement was that if I fought in Cambodia which is now going to be in Thailand. If I won this fight I would be on the US roster. I want to get into the US circuit and pursue my career there."
