Okayama Higashi Commercial High School Friendship Concert brings international musical exchange

A special international Friendship Concert on Thursday, Feb. 12, 2026 at 1PM, featuring students from Okayama Higashi Commercial High School in Japan in partnership with the Guam Philharmonic Foundation, Okkodo High School, and Lam Lam Tours & Transportation.
The concert brings together student performers as part of an international exchange program designed to promote cultural understanding, musical diversity, and lasting friendships.
Through shared rehearsals and joint performances, Guam and Japan’s students will experience each other’s musical traditions while building meaningful cross-cultural connections.
The event will take place in the Micronesia Mall Center Court and will feature stage performances by the Okayama Higashi Commercial High School brass band, collaborative joint pieces with Okkodo High School, and a special performance by the Okkodo Rock Band.
The Guam Philharmonic Foundation, which facilitated the partnership between Okayama Higashi Commercial High School and Okkodo High School, plays a vital role in supporting music education and cultural programming on Guam.
The organization hosts numerous musical performances and community events throughout the year and is currently gearing up for its highly anticipated Tumon Bay Music Festival, which begins in late February and features a wide range of local and international musicians and concerts around Guam.
This event also reflects Micronesia Mall’s continued commitment to welcoming visiting student groups and supporting Guam’s tourism and cultural exchange efforts.
