The Guam Department of Education Division of Curriculum & Instruction held the first session of the Adult Preparation Subject Educational Virtual Reality in the Classroom professional development series.
Eight high school educators representing Health, Science, and Business participated in the virtual training.
The session introduced the Guam State Personal Responsibility Education Program and highlighted the use of virtual reality to support immersive, non-traditional learning experiences. The focus of the first session was Adolescent Development, with educators exploring VR content related to the adolescent brain and mental well-being.
Participants also became familiar with VR devices and mindfulness applications, expressing enthusiasm about using the technology to help address student stress and anxiety in the classroom.
The professional development series will continue over the next two Saturdays, with upcoming sessions focused on Financial Literacy and Educational and Career Success.
This activity is funded by the Personal Responsibility Education Program through the Administration for Children & Families, U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, and is administered by the Guam Department of Education.
