New board chair and vice chair selected for Guam Education Board

The Guam Education Board is welcoming new leadership, following the election of a new board chair and vice chair Tuesday night.
The board electing Dr. Judith Guthertz as its next chair— the sole nominee—in a unanimous vote. The election comes as current chair Angel Sablan announced his intent to run for a seat in the 39th Guam Legislature, confirming he will not seek re-election as chair or vice chair.
Sablan telling KUAM he plans to continue serving as a board member for now, pending a determination by the Civil Service Commission on whether he must resign once he is accepted and qualified as a senatorial candidate.
Meanwhile, current vice chair Dr. Mary Okada was also unanimously re-elected to the position.
It’s worth noting that Dr. Okada is currently running for lieutenant governor of Guam, joining running mate Frank Blas, Jr. on the republican ticket.
