Guam daughter T’ana Adamos wins Gold at IBJJF European Championships in breakout Juvenile Blue Belt debut

Guam’s Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu community is celebrating a landmark achievement as T’ana Adamos (15) captured gold at the IBJJF European Championships, one of the most prestigious competitions in the sport.
Competing in her first year in the juvenile division and just nine days after earning her blue belt, Adamos delivered a dominant performance on the world stage.
The victory adds to an already elite résumé that includes gold medal titles at IBJJF Jiu-Jitsu Con, IBJJF Pan Kids, the most prestigious championship for youth competitors, and multiple local and Asian regional championships, including the Marianas Open and Patgon Tournaments.
Adamos trains under Professor Michael Carbullido at Atos Jiu-Jitsu Guam, where she has distinguished herself not only as an elite competitor, but also as a leader and mentor. In addition to her competitive success, she teaches multiple youth classes five days a week and is widely recognized for her discipline, humility, and work ethic.
“T’ana’s performance in Lisbon is a reflection of who she is every single day in the academy,” said Professor Michael Carbullido, her head coach. “Her preparation, mindset, and character set her apart. Winning a European title nine days into her blue belt is extremely rare, but for T’ana, it was earned.”
Adamos’ competition planning and long-term athlete development are overseen by Kristy Carbullido, team manager at Atos Jiu-Jitsu Guam.
“This achievement is about far more than a gold medal,” said Kristy Carbullido. “T’ana represents Guam with humility, discipline, and heart. She balances school, teaching, training, and international competition with maturity beyond her years. This is only the beginning of her journey.”
While her home academy is based in Guam, Adamos was coached on-site at the European Championships by André Galvão, Angelica Galvão, and Sarah Galvão—world champions, hall of famers, and leaders of the Atos organization. Professor André Galvão is also Professor Michael Carbullido’s longtime professor and mentor, further underscoring the depth of lineage and support behind Adamos’ success.
With the European Championship secured, Adamos now sets her sights on an ambitious IBJJF Grand Slam campaign in her first year as a juvenile blue belt, positioning herself as one of the most promising young athletes in international Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu.
