Drug dog alert leads to meth arrest during traffic stop

A traffic stop on Route 4 ended in a drug arrest after Drako, a drug detector dog, alerted to methamphetamine in a vehicle, according to a magistrate’s complaint filed in superior court.
Police say the driver, 48-year-old Noreen Marie Cruz, admitted there was meth in the car but claimed it was not hers, telling officers she had found it at work days earlier. She reportedly said the drugs were inside her purse.
Officers found about 1.35 grams of methamphetamine and a pipe with residue during a search.
Cruz was charged with possession of a schedule II controlled substance as a third-degree felony.
