The defense attorney for 2025 murder suspect Gregory Arthur Romero requested more time to review a lengthy forensic evaluation, prompting a superior court judge to postpone further proceedings Monday.

Romero appeared via Zoom from the Department of Corrections before Judge Maria T. Cenzon. He is accused in the fatal shooting of Keo Resse Cruz Taianao in June 2025 at the Guam Premier Outlets parking lot in Tamuning. The incident was allegedly captured on surveillance and social media footage.

Romero faces charges of aggravated murder and aggravated assault as a second-degree felony, with a special allegation involving the use of a deadly weapon. He remains held on $1 million bail.

Defense attorney Heather Martinez Quitugua told the court she had not yet fully reviewed the December 10 forensic evaluation with her client and had only recently received additional discovery materials from Romero’s former attorney, Gloria Rudolph, shortly before Christmas.

The prosecution said the assigned deputy attorney general, John David Griffin, had not yet reviewed the evaluation. Judge Cenzon granted a brief continuance to allow both sides time to review the materials and determine next steps.
