A man is facing felony theft charges after police say he was caught removing items from a closed hotel in Tumon.

According to a magistrate’s complaint filed in Superior Court of Guam, officers responded just before 10am Sunday to a reported trespass at the former Verona Resort and Spa.

Investigators say a security guard spotted two men loading items from inside the building into a pickup truck. Court documents state Gerald Matthew Torralba was moving the items, while another man acted as a lookout.

When questioned by police, Torralba allegedly admitted taking items and offered to retrieve them from his vehicle. Officers later found a toilet bowl, multiple sinks, and a metal lamp inside the truck.

Torralba has been charged with third-degree felony theft.
