Celebrate Smokey Bear's 80th birthday Thursday at the Guam Museum

For Smokey Bear's 80th birthday, the Guam Department of Agriculture's Forestry & Soil Resources Division will be hosting an outreach event at the Guam Museum’s outdoor theater on Aug. 8 from 3 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.
Christine Fejeran, FSRD chief, invites the community to meet Smokey Bear and his friends to celebrate the 80th anniversary of wildfire prevention and forest conservation efforts.
“The four different pillars of the FSDR will be there to share more information about their programs and how they all tie in with Smokey bear’s message,” Fejeran said.
There will also be interactive games, prizes, food trucks and a special award ceremony for those who went beyond the call of duty in recent fire seasons.
“Smokey Bear has been a symbol of wildfire prevention for generations. Most of us have grown up with Smokey Bear, and we're thrilled to celebrate his 80th birthday here in Guam. This event is not only a celebration but a reminder of our shared responsibility to protect our forests and natural resources,” said Chelsa Muna, DOAG director.
