Benito (Ben) S. Servino has served as the Director of the Department of Integrated Services for Individuals with Disabilities (DISID) for the past 7-1/2 years under the current Calvo/Tenorio Administration.
He also serves as the State/Territorial ADA Coordinator for the Government of Guam and conducts monthly briefing/training meetings for ADA Coordinators from each Government of Guam agency.
Prior to serving as DISID’s Director, he served as the Interim Director for the Student Disabilities Resource Center (SDRC) and as the Administrator for the Workability-IV (WA-IV) Program at California State University, East Bay before retiring in 2010.
Ben was born in Dededo, Guam and left the island after graduating from JFK High School in 1970 to pursue his Bachelor of Science Degree in Graphic Communications from California State University, San Luis Obispo, CA in 1972 and then worked for the U.S. Department of Interior as an Illustrator for over 10 years.
He later earned a Graduate Certificate in Rehabilitation Administration in 2003 and a Master of Science degree in Rehabilitation Counseling from San Diego State University, CA in 2008.
Ben has extensive experience in the field of disabilities, having worked as a Special Education Instructor at Guam DOE; Executive Director of the Guam Developmental Disabilities Council; Director of the Guam Governor's Commission on Persons with Disabilities; Assistive Technology Program Coordinator at the University of Guam; and as the ADA/Accessible IT Specialist at the Pacific ADA Technical Assistance Center in Oakland, CA.
He currently is a member of the Dededo Municipal Planning Council, the Guam Harmony Lions Club, Dededo Veterans Organization, Self-Advocates in Action, and the Republican Party of Guam.
