Guam - Following last night's loss in the Decision 2014 gubernatorial race KUAM News was told that former governor Carl Gutierrez was not ready to comment on last night's vote tallies. But KUAM did speak with his running mate, Attorney Gary Gumatoatao, over the phone late this afternoon.
He shared, "To say I'm surprised would describe it calmly - the spread I think was difficult to understand because there were Democrat strongholds that even the precincts that were coming and being counted they still maintained such a large margin, which makes it very, very suspicious that it would be that way. And there are cases where machines have been tampered with, so I don't know what's going on with this and this is my personal opinion and I don't believe that the results are correct.
"But until and unless there's some kind of investigation here that would only be my suspicion, I just don't know if there would be enough basis to be able to bring it to the Guam Election Commission's attention to have them do a hand count."
Gumataotao clarified that he was not speaking for the campaign, but that was his personal opinion. in terms of the loss, he said there's always going to be a winner and loser, but wanted to thank their supporters and let them know their hard work on the campaign was truly appreciated.
