Guam - Pending the certification of the results - for the most part - Decision 2014 is in the history books. And the gubernatorial race, which pitted Eddie Calvo against Carl Gutierrez, was the most high-profile contest of the night, and the one that over the last four months was the constant conversation piece on social media, at fiestas, and around the water cooler at the office.

But the race for Adelup ultimately was a landslide win, with Calvo taking the lead from the start and never looking back.

The KUAM/UOG Student Exit Poll, released as soon as the precincts closed last night, projected Calvo, the incumbent, winning by a 60%/40% split - and that proved to be prophetic, with a dominant performance in which the republican incumbent took every precinct, a nearly-unprecedented victory.

With still a few precincts to be counted the Calvo-Tenorio team did the numbers and knew early on that they had the win. The champagne was flowing and the candidates took the stage for their victory dance. "This campaign was all about love - it's about the people. We love the people of Guam and we look forward to serving tem for another four years," said the governor.

And those for years began today as Governor Calvo and Lieutenant Governor Ray Tenorio said they now plans to bring everyone together. The key element, the governor said, we need to get back to work and get everyone together, "That means the right direction that means the Sunshine, that means all the people of Guam as one family, one Guam. I do believe the people that have been part of this campaign they have been at every pocket meeting heard our speeches they understand the opportunities are there for our people these next few years are going to be the most dynamic in the history of our island, and if we all come together and its people I think this island will reach its greatest heights," Calvo proclaimed.

"Socially, politically, economically, you name it - we're going to be gem in the Pacific!"

"We are here to work as a team whether you're Democrat or Republican, this is not about the Democratic Party or Republican Party - this is about the Guamanian party, and doing the things that are good for all of our island," echoed Tenorio. "This is not about men and women - it's not about the children or the elderly, it's about everyone being a part of a great society. And we improved the island so much and you now I reached out to Gary [Gumataotao], who is a great guy. I reached out to Governor Gutierrez, who is a leader in his time and I ask him to work together with us along with the Legislature along with the congresswoman because we want to be a team to able to accomplish the dreams of all our the people not just one party or the together not just one village over another. It's about making our island a better place."

There was however no concession speech from the Gutierrez Gumatoatao camp... Instead campaign manager Jeff Marchesseault said he was surprised and didn't see this coming or that the results would be 'slanted." he was however encouraged about the reelection of Congresswoman Madeleine Bordallo and  Democratic Party of Guam chairperson Rory Respicio's efforts to unite the party after years of division and what this means in the future.

"No matter what the results were and I've said this from the very beginning internally is that we've given our party a fighting chance again," Marchessault stated. "Our party was very divided at the beginning and I have to give a of credit to Rory for pulling every back together again and getting the 'Bordallocrats' back together with the 'Sunshine Democrats' and getting the Sunshine Democrats on the same page with [Robert] Underwood's organization and together we've been able to move the party to the next level. So by the time we get to the next election, we're going to have midterm 2018, we're going to have a gubernatorial team.

"This is really a good step to get us to the next level of competition and competitiveness."
