Guam - Following last week's speech by the GOP, the Rotary Club of Tumon was treated today with a presentation by the Democratic Party of Guam on its platform and slate of candidates. Before members of the business community, vice chairwoman Dr. Nerissa Underwood spoke on the party's full support of the military buildup and the increase in the minimum wage.

She said, "As we have the military buildup come about our island, we want to make sure that our local businesses have equal access to procurement to those contracts and we want to emphasize that, but regarding the minimum wage we still believe that our economy will be healthier when we have individuals who are earning more money and for those who are earning minimum wage, the more that they get, it will actually will go back to the economy."

It was last month when the party unveiled its "Plan for Action" for the people of Guam.
