Guam - Guam Election Commission Executive Director Maria Pangelinan appeared before members of the Guam Legislature this morning to provide an update on preparations for the upcoming November General Election as well as what's been done to address some of the issues that were raised from the August Primary.

During the roundtable discussion Pangelinan noted that as of October 21st there were 50,500 registered voters for the general election. As of Thursday, 346 homebound voters were serviced and 505 people voted in-office, 302 off island including UOCAVA ballots had been sent out of which 119 have already been received.

As for the status of the new tabulation machines that arrived just prior to the August Primary, Pangelinan told lawmakers they will be undergoing preventative maintenance before being transported to Election Central and the University of Guam for the test election on Sunday, November 2nd. She added that each one will have a dedicated power supply and that UOG has provided a backup generator for the machines.  Additionally a crew from the Guam Power Authority will be on standby in the event there are any power outages the night of the election. Bottom line Pangelinan said they're ready for D14.

She said, “We believe that with all the learning experiences we have I think one of the biggest things that has come about is all the partnerships with the Legislature, the Governor's Office, the Guam Power Authority, DPW everybody the institutional knowledge amongst our partners including GPD, has made it to where I think we're going to have a very good election."

The General Election is scheduled for Tuesday, November 4th. Polls open at 7:00am and close at 8:00pm
