The man accused of murdering former Humatak mayor Daniel Sanchez has just been found guilty by a jury of his peers. 62-year-old Rudy Fegurgur Quinata was found guilty of murder as in the first degree in Judge Vernon Perez's courtroom earlier today.

Prior to his conviction Quinata was accused of killing former mayor Sanchez in 2021.

This case, now has a conclusion five years after the incident took place. According to KUAM files, he was originally sentenced in 2023 for murder with a life sentence but his original conviction was overturned in December of the same year after the Supreme Court of Guam found juror misconduct, revealing a juror was aware of Quinata's prior conviction and incarceration.

According to a release from the Attorney General of Guam, they are hoping to impose the maximum jail time of life imprisonment without parole.
