Moylan backs veterans bill
Congressman James Moylan is joining a bipartisan push to improve the military discharge review process for veterans.
Moylan, alongside Congressman James Walkinshaw of Virginia, introduced the Streamline Upgrades for Veterans Act—legislation aimed at reducing delays for veterans seeking to upgrade their discharge status.
The bill focuses on veterans suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder and traumatic brain injury, conditions that can affect discharge status and access to benefits like healthcare, housing assistance, and education.
According to the proposal, the measure would maintain staffing levels at military discharge review boards through 2030, require the Department of Defense to report processing timelines to Congress, and make a public summary of those findings available.
Moylan says veterans should not have to fight another battle just to receive the benefits they earned through service, adding the bill is meant to bring more accountability, transparency, and faster decisions for those who need help most.
