The road to the 39th Guam Legislature is officially underway—and the first signs of competition are already building momentum.

Several individuals have picked up candidate packets from the Guam Election Commission, signaling their intent to run and represent the people of Guam.

Among the recent names—Kallen Perez, environmental advocate and hiking enthusiast Dave Lotz, and retired mixed martial arts fighter Brandon Vera—adding a diverse mix of backgrounds to the possible lineup.

Meanwhile—several incumbent senators have already made it official.

Republican lawmakers Jesse Lujan, Shawn Gumataotao, Sabrina Salas Matanane, and Telo Taitague have filed the necessary documents—setting the stage for what could be a highly competitive race.

And they won’t be alone.

Newcomers Joaquin Taitague, Matteo Mortera, Jerald Yingling, and Lillian Guerrero have also submitted their paperwork—signaling a new wave of candidates ready to make their case to voters.

With more names expected in the weeks ahead, the field is only expected to grow.

But while candidates prepare their campaigns, the real power lies with the people.

Guam voters will head to the polls for the primary election on August 1, followed by the general election on November 3.

And with critical issues on the line—from cost of living to public safety to the future of our island, your vote will help decide who takes a seat in the next legislature.

So mark your calendars—and make a plan to vote. Decision 2026 starts with you.
