Guam - The Guam Education Board meets Thursday morning at Tamuning Elementary School. DOE superintendent Jon Fernandez reveals that of the 44, there may be 9 teacher positions open due to failure to pass the Praxis certification test. Fernandez says the remaining teachers have expressed interest in voluntarily stepping down to limited term positions to keep from disrupting the present school year, keep in good standing with the department and Guam law, as well as grant them more time to pass the certification test in coming months.

Meanwhile, board member Joe San Agustin is concerned that DOE hasn't approached the 22 recent University of Guam students who graduated from the School of Education over the weekend.
