Burglary leads to shooting

Guam Police arrested 30-year-old Rico Jenoven Bacilius Wasisang of Dededo following an officer-involved shooting on Hahasu Drive. 

According to GPD, officers responded around 3:03 p.m. on Feb. 23 to a report of a burglary. A witness told police wasisang was seen with items stolen from a residence. When officers arrived, he was allegedly armed with a firearm and pointed it at responding officers, leading to the shooting.

Police say the firearm in his possession had been stolen during the burglary.

Wasisang was transported to Guam Regional Medical City, where he remains under GPD custody. He was later processed and booked on multiple charges, including burglary, aggravated assault, assault on a peace officer, theft, reckless conduct, discharge of a firearm, and firearm violations.

According to GPD spokesperson Norman Analista, the officer involved has been placed on administrative leave pending an internal affairs investigation.
