Vice Speaker Tony Ada and businessman E.J. Calvo have officially entered the 2026 gubernatorial race. The republican team filed their candidacy paperwork at 11am at the Guam Election Commission, marking what they call the first step in their campaign to “Put Guam First.”
In their announcement, Ada and Calvo say their movement is focused on restoring trust in government, strengthening education and healthcare, improving public safety, and growing Guam’s economy so families can thrive at home.
Ada spent more than 16 years in private business before entering public service. He served in the 30th Guam Legislature and held leadership roles as minority whip in the 31st and minority leader in the 32nd and 33rd legislatures.
Calvo brings a background in business and sports leadership, having worked as a distribution manager and events promoter, and currently serving as the men's head coach for the Guam National Basketball Confederation.
The Ada-Calvo campaign says it is rooted in humility, determination, and a deep love for Guam — promising leadership that listens, acts, and delivers.
