Guam Police Department officers have taken into custody the second of two male minors who escaped from the Department of Youth Affairs on Feb. 18.
According to GPD, the first minor was apprehended within hours of the escape. During the incident, a DYA employee was assaulted.
Police continued searching for the second minor into the late-night hours of Feb. 20. After an extensive operation totaling more than 600 manpower hours, officers located him in Dededo and took him into custody around 3:30 p.m. on Feb. 21.he was confined to DYA for felony escape and assault on a peace officer.
In connection with the case, GPD also arrested 18-year-old Triniva Breani San Nicolas of Yigo on charges of hindering apprehension, jurisdiction over an adult, and violation of a court order.
Authorities say San Nicolas was previously arrested on Feb. 9, 2026 for allegedly assisting the same minor in a prior escape. She had been charged with custodial interference in the second degree and hindering apprehension. She was processed, booked and confined at the Department of Corrections.
