The Guam Department of Education continues to make steady progress on school facility improvements at George Washington High School in the Kattan Region as part of its ongoing districtwide refurbishment initiative.

At George Washington High School, exterior door replacements, restroom renovations including fixtures and associated plumbing, and crack and spall repairs have all been completed, addressing critical safety, sanitation, and structural needs across the campus.

Ongoing work includes canopy installation, which is currently 36.67% complete and is projected to increase to 53.73% by the end of next week. Additionally, the school’s electrical upgrade is nearing completion at 98.11%.

With major renovation components completed and final work underway, the overall refurbishment project at George Washington High School is currently 93.27% complete.

“Each phase of work completed at George Washington High School reflects our continued focus on improving long-term safety and functionality across our campuses,” said Dr. Julie Ulloa-Heath, Deputy Superintendent of Assessment and Accountability. “As projects near completion, we remain committed to minimizing disruptions while ensuring our facilities meet the needs of students, staff, and the wider school community.”

The refurbishment project at George Washington High School is part of GDOE’s broader facilities improvement program aimed at addressing deferred maintenance, modernizing infrastructure, and extending the lifespan of school facilities across the island.

GDOE remains committed to maintaining safe, reliable, and well-equipped learning environments for all students throughout Guam’s public-school system.
