USCGC Myrtle Hazard returns from Pacific patrol
The crew of the US Coast Guard Cutter Myrtle Hazard is back home after a successful patrol across the Western Pacific under Operation Blue Pacific.
From mid-November through mid-December, the cutter logged more than 5,300 nautical miles and over 500 operational hours, working side-by-side with partners in the Federated States of Micronesia and Palau.
Crew members conducted joint boardings, enforced bilateral maritime law agreements, inspected vessels on the high seas, and helped maintain continuous maritime security while Palau’s patrol boat underwent maintenance.
Beyond enforcement, the crew also strengthened people-to-people ties—hosting community events, youth activities, and ship tours in Pohnpei and Kosrae—efforts the Coast Guard says build trust, deter illegal fishing, and support a free and secure Pacific.
