Suspect arrested in deadly Dededo crash
Guam Police have arrested a 23-year-old Dededo man in connection with a deadly two-car crash that claimed the lives of a mother and her 1-year-old daughter.
Authorities say John Mariano Moses is facing multiple charges, including two counts of vehicular homicide, leaving the scene of a crash with injuries, imprudent driving, speeding, and driving without a license.
The crash happened just after 6am Sunday at the intersection of Route 1 and South Chalan Henry Kaiser in Dededo. Police say Moses fled the scene on foot before officers arrived, while the victims were rushed to Guam Regional Medical City.
30-year-old Charity Mina Berry and her daughter, Minareen Immy, were later pronounced dead. They are Guam’s 20th and 21st traffic fatalities this year.
Investigators say Moses turned himself in later that afternoon and was booked into the Department of Corrections. Speed and impaired driving are being considered as possible factors.
Guam Police extended their condolences to the victims’ family and loved ones.
