Mother and infant killed in Dededo crash; Driver of other car turns himself in
Guam Police Department is investigating a fatal two-car crash that claimed the lives of a mother and her one-year-old daughter early Sunday morning.
At 6:20 a.m., officers responded to a collision at the intersection of Route 1 and South Chalan Henry Kaiser in Dededo involving a white sedan and a red sedan.
The operator of the white sedan fled the scene on foot. The occupants of the red sedan were transported to Guam Regional Medical City. Charity Mina Berry, 30, and her daughter, Minareen Immy, 1, were later pronounced dead. The male operator of their vehicle remains hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries.
Guam Highway Patrol investigators searched for the fleeing driver, who turned himself in later in the afternoon. Speed and impaired driving are possible factors. The investigation is ongoing.
Berry and Immy are Guam’s 20th and 21st traffic fatalities this year.
