Traffic stop leads to drug charge
A traffic stop for an expired registration has led to drug charges against a 35-year-old man. According to a magistrate’s complaint filed in superior court, police pulled over John Remlee Caoile Alhambra along Route 28 Tuesday night after noticing his registration sticker expired back in 2021.
Officers say Alhambra did not have a valid driver’s license and instead provided a passport. During the stop, police report seeing glass pipes and a baggie containing a crystalline substance inside his bag. A field test later showed a presumptive positive for methamphetamine.
Alhambra is charged with possession of a schedule II controlled substance as a third-degree felony, along with a violation for operating a vehicle without a valid license.
