A man accused in a violent string of crimes across the island last April will have his trial delayed as the court determines whether he is competent to stand trial. Jeromy Moe John Pangelinan appeared before Superior Court Judge Alberto Tolentino, who set a new hearing for January 14, 2026, to allow clinical psychologist Dr. Juan Rapadas to appear in person and explain what additional testing is needed to complete his evaluation.

Pangelinan faces multiple third-degree felony charges, including terroristic conduct, weapons offenses, and drug possession.

Police say the april incidents involved attempted carjackings, confrontations, and a shooting in Talo’fo’fo’ that sparked a massive manhunt, ending with a high-speed chase and his arrest after he was shot by officers. Judge Tolentino told Pangelinan further psychological testing must be completed before the case can move forward, and that he is expected to appear in court in person at the next hearing.
