The University of the Philippines Alumni – Guam presented a $2,800 scholarship to GCA Trades Academy student Donovin Marbibi to support his education in the HVACR program.

The scholarship was awarded Monday at the GCA Trades Academy Tiyan training facility, marking the group’s first contribution to a trades academy student.

UPAG Scholarship Committee Chair Dr. Ray Somera said the contribution supports the local workforce, noting Marbibi’s strong work ethic.

Marbibi has completed level one of the HVACR program and begun level two, with plans to finish all four levels by 2027. UPAG President Maribel Perez said the group hopes to continue supporting him throughout his training.

Marbibi thanked the organization, saying he hopes to become a HVACR technician, start his own company, and use his skills to support senior centers.

Family members and GCA Trades Academy leaders also expressed pride and encouragement, including board members who praised both Marbibi and UPAG for their contribution to the community.
