The Guam Memorial Hospital Authority has begun installing new cooling towers as part of its ongoing capital improvement project, aimed at improving air quality and creating a safer, more comfortable environment for patients, staff, and visitors.

The hospital also received a 265-ton chiller and condenser last week.

“This is another step forward for our hospital,” said GMHA Interim Administrator and CEO Dr. Joleen M. Aguon. “We continue to see meaningful progress as we strengthen and revitalize our facility for the people we serve.”

Earlier this month, GMHA also received two 450-ton chillers. Together, these systems will help address mold and humidity concerns, improve air conditioning reliability, and maintain a healthier environment throughout the hospital.

The project represents a key part of GMHA’s broader effort to modernize its infrastructure and ensure consistent, quality care for the community.

“As we work toward building a new hospital, we remain committed to investing in today’s hospital to ensure uninterrupted, quality care for our community,” said Governor Lou Leon Guerrero. “Projects like this one are essential to our continued progress.”

“Every investment in this facility is an investment in our people and in the future of healthcare on our island,” said Lieutenant Governor Josh Tenorio. “We are proud to see GMHA advancing with these improvements.”
