Guam leaders gathered Monday for a proclamation signing declaring November as National Sanctuary and Homelessness Awareness Month, a reminder that everyone deserves safety, dignity, and a place to call home.
Program manager Stephanie Drillon shared a few words reflecting on the organizations lasting impact and its mission to continue serving those in need. "This proclamation signing holds special meaning as Sanctuary proudly celebrates 54 years of service to our island community. For over five decades Sanctuary has stood as a place of refuge, guidance and empowerment for Guam’s youth and families, most especially in crisis. What began as a small grassroot effort has grown into a vital network of services from sheltering, counseling to outreach, and advocacy all built on one simple promise, that no young person should never feel alone or without hope," he said.
This November, let's honor Sanctuary’s journey from a small grassroots effort to a lasting movement of hope and continue working toward a future free from homelessness.
