Trial set for Gun Beach murder defendant

Superior Court Judge John Terlaje has set a February 2026 trial date for Stefan Keanu Camacho, charged in the January 2024 robbery-shooting of Korean tourist Hea Jun Hwang near Gun Beach.
Camacho, appearing via Zoom from DOC, faces first-degree murder and robbery charges with a vulnerable victim enhancement. If convicted, he could face life plus 77 years.
Defense attorney Ramiro Orozco asked for more time to prepare, citing other ongoing trials, while prosecutors confirmed a new plea offer is being reviewed.
The Supreme Court of Guam earlier upheld a ruling allowing former chief medical examiner Dr. Jeffery Nine to testify remotely from Ohio due to health concerns.
Court records say Camacho acted as the getaway driver while Keoki Santos shot hwang during a botched robbery. Santos later took his own life when confronted by police.
