Foundation donates iPads to empower special education students

The P.D. Hemlani Foundation continues its tradition of giving — marking the 14th year of its assistive technology donation to the Guam Department of Education’s Special Education Department. On November 5, the foundation presented ten 11th-generation iPads with protective cases to support students whose individualized education programs require assistive devices.
The donation also includes $1,250 in iTunes gift cards to purchase Proloquo2go — a communication app that gives nonverbal students a voice to connect with teachers, classmates, and family members. Each iPad remains with the student during their schooling, and the app license can be transferred once a student graduates or no longer needs it, ensuring continued use for future learners.
This year’s donation honors Sherina J. Hemlani — the late granddaughter of P.D. and Radhi Hemlani — who was also a special needs student. The foundation says its mission is to enhance quality of life through health, education, and social welfare initiatives — and this annual gift is one way to open new doors for Guam’s students with special needs.
