Dr. Judith Won Pat has been selected to lead the Guam Department of Education. The Guam Education Board made the decision Thursday afternoon during a special meeting, with member Peter Alexcis Ada casting the sixth vote needed to lock in the selection.

During preliminary voting, candidates Joe Sanchez and Dr. Barbara Adamos received a double and single vote, respectively, while Erika Cruz and Kenneth Perez received none.

Dr. Won Pat is expected to officially take the reins on January 1st, with outgoing superintendent Dr. Kenneth Swanson set to step down on December 31st.
