Guam leaders gathered together on October 17 for a proclamation signing declaring October as National Disability Employment Awareness Month, highlighting the importance of equity, inclusion, and the value of diverse workforce.
Reuel Drilon, the acting director of the Department of Integrated Services for Individuals with Disabilities, invited KUAM News to celebrate change of paradigm and to celebrate the talent, not the limitations. "You know, we often say lets look at the person and not the disability, but this really is an invitation and a call to change our paradigm specifically to look at the value of the personhood," he explained.
Let's honor progress and keep pushing towards a truly inclusive workforce. Together, we can build a future where every talent is valued and every opportunity is open to all.
