The Department of Public Health has confirmed Guam’s second case of Dengue Fever this year — but officials say it’s an imported case. The illness was reported on October 30, and health experts stress Dengue is spread through the bite of an infected mosquito, not from person to person.

While Dengue isn’t endemic to Guam, the island does have the mosquito species capable of transmitting it. Public Health urges residents to protect themselves from mosquito bites, stay indoors if running a fever, and remove standing water around homes to eliminate mosquito breeding sites.
