Invest 90W brings flood watch, gusty winds to the Marianas

The National Weather Service is closely tracking Invest 90W, a developing low-level circulation southeast of the Marianas. The system is expected to move northwest, then west-northwest, possibly passing near or just south of the islands.
Residents can expect increasingly gusty winds shifting from the east to the southeast, with sustained winds of 20 to 30 miles per hour and gusts up to 40 miles per hour by midweek. Periods of heavy rain are also forecast, bringing 4-8" of rainfall through Friday — raising the risk of flash flooding and mudslides, especially in hilly areas.
A Flood Watch is now in effect for Guam and Rota from late tonight through Friday afternoon. Seas will also become hazardous, building up to 10', with coastal inundation possible.
Emergency officials are urging the community to stay alert, clear drainage areas, and avoid flooded roads and low-lying areas. The Office of Homeland Security and Civil Defense reminds residents to monitor official updates in the coming days.
