A robbery at Grand Market in Dededo turned out to involve a toy gun — but the consequences are very real. 29-year-old Rauel Jose Quinata is charged with second-degree robbery after police say he held up the store on October 18, demanding cash with what appeared to be a revolver. The cashier, fearing for her life, handed over about $430 before Quinata fled on foot.

Investigators later learned the weapon was a plastic toy gun. Quinata’s friend, 29-year-old Brandon Tyler Quitugua, is accused of hiding him from police and faces charges of hindering apprehension and obstructing government functions.

Both men were arrested this week after officers found them together at Quitugua’s Dededo residence. A video of the incident has been widely shared on social media.
