G3 Makerspace hosts weaving and laser engraver workshops to close out October

The University of Guam's Green Growth Circular Economy Makerspace and Innovation Hub is wrapping up October with two hands-on workshops that blend tradition and technology.
On Thursday, October 23, from 5 to 7:30 p.m., the fiber laser engraver workshop will introduce participants to high-tech engraving used in design, manufacturing, and custom production.
G3 Makerspace Coordinator Emily Wendte says the training is perfect for designers and small business owners looking to expand their skills.
Then on Thursday, Oct. 30, also from 5 to 7:30 p.m., the Finanåguen Tinifok Katupat Weaving Workshop will be led by CHamoru Weaver Martha Tenorio, teaching the traditional art of weaving katupat from coconut leaves.
Participants will also enjoy Kadu, or CHamoru stew, with the rice cooked in the katupat.
Registration is available online at eventbrite, and space is limited for both sessions.
