A mother faces charges after allegedly hiding her daughter — a Department of Youth Affairs client who ran away in August.  According to court documents, 41-year-old Vanessa Andrea Mariano Blas is accused of keeping her daughter at her home off Chalan Mataguac despite knowing the girl was in the custody of Child Protective Services.

Blas told police she knew she should have returned her daughter but was “just happy to be with her.”

Meanwhile, authorities are still searching for a 16-year-old boy who fled the DYA Youth Correctional Facility on October 1. He’s described as Chamoru, 5'4", 148 pounds, with brown eyes, black hair, and a scar and birthmark on his abdomen.

He was last seen wearing a purple George Washington High School polo, black shorts, and black slippers.

Anyone with information is urged to contact DYA at 735-5022 or Guam Police.
