Route 1 update; flood Watch in Effect

Heavy rainfall left debris along Route 1 near Vince Jewelers in East Hagåtña, slowing traffic in both directions.
As of 8:50 a.m., two northbound lanes and one southbound lane are open while crews continue clearing the area.
GPD Chief Stephen Ignacio says officers remain on site to direct traffic and ease congestion. “We continue to work closely with DPW to clear the debris, clean the roadways, and open all lanes of travel,” he said.
The passing tropical disturbance continues to bring heavy showers and thunderstorms, with localized flash flooding possible, especially across central and southern Guam.
A Flood Watch remains in effect for Guam and Rota through early Thursday morning, though rainfall is expected to taper off by midmorning as conditions gradually improve.
