Man arrested in connection with turtle poaching incident at Agat Marina

The Department of Agriculture’s Conservation Law Enforcement Division has arrested one man in connection with a turtle poaching incident at the Agat Marina.
On Oct. 3, conservation officers and volunteer reservists were conducting a marine patrol when they received reports of suspected poaching in the area.
Officers responded immediately and apprehended one male individual after discovering an injured green sea turtle that had been speared.
Arrested was 60-year-old Frank Benjamin Camp, charged with taking a threatened or endangered species under local conservation law.
A homemade kayak canoe and fishing paraphernalia were also seized.
The injured turtle was turned over to the Division of Aquatic and Wildlife Resources for Medical Care, and federal authorities were notified of possible violations under the endangered species act.
DOA says its officers continue to patrol Guam's coastal and marine preserve areas to protect wildlife and preserve the island’s natural resources.
