GMH, GPA join forces to fix hospital’s electrical system

Significant progress is being made toward resolving long-standing electrical problems at the Guam Memorial Hospital. Following a productive meeting between GMH and the Guam Power Authority, both agencies have reached an agreement that sets the stage for long-overdue repairs and upgrades to the hospital’s electrical infrastructure.
GMH has agreed to adopt GPA’s recommendations and has formally requested the power agency to take the lead in facilitating the necessary repairs and procurement to modernize the system. GPA has committed to spearheading the effort, ensuring the project benefits from the utility’s technical expertise and quality standards.
Governor Lou Leon Guerrero called the partnership an example of what can be achieved when government agencies work together to protect public health and safety.
Interim CEO Dr. Joleen Aguon added that the collaboration with GPA will ensure repairs are done right and without delay — bringing GMH one step closer to providing a safe, reliable environment for patients and staff.
The administration says both agencies will coordinate closely to ensure timely execution of the project, with public updates as key milestones are reached.
