A man already facing charges in a 2024 tourist car burglary case is back behind bars—this time accused of breaking into another vehicle at the Hilton Guam Resort & Spa Hotel.

30-year-old Joseph Anthony T. Hocog was arrested after police say he smashed the window of a Toyota Corolla late Monday night and stole a bag worth about $35. Investigators later spotted Hocog driving a Ford Escape, where they found the missing items.

According to the complaint, Hocog admitted to using a sparkplug to break the window, telling officers he was “desperate.”

Hocog was already on pre-trial release in a separate burglary case from last year, when a family visiting from Korea returned to their car near the Guam Power Authority’s Emerald Valley area to find valuables missing. In that case, surveillance video showed a man driving up in a Ford Escape and smashing a window.

Hocog had been free on a $5,000 personal recognizance bond, but this week he was ordered held on $5,000 cash bail. If convicted, he faces up to 62 years in prison.
