Inert grenade discovery forces airport evacuation

On Sunday, September 28th, TSA officers at the Guam International Airport shut down a security checkpoint after finding what looked like a live grenade inside a traveler’s carry-on bag.
The area was evacuated until an explosives specialist confirmed it was inert — meaning it could not detonate, but still appeared real. TSA Federal Security Director for the pacific, nanea vasta, praised her officers for their vigilance in protecting the traveling public, stressing that even replicas of explosives are banned in all baggage.
She reminded passengers that one prohibited item can cause major delays for everyone.
