Guam’s unemployment rate drops to record low 3.2%

Guam's unemployment rate has dropped to a record low of 3.2%.
Guam's unemployment rate declined to 3.2% in June 2025, a decrease of 0.8% from a year earlier, and 0.7% from Dec. 2024.
Acting Governor Josh Tenorio said that while the numbers show progress, the work to create jobs, support small businesses, and strengthen the economy continues.
The Department of Labor reported that the lower rate reflected both a decrease in the number of persons unemployed and a decrease in those out of the labor force compared to June 2024.
The current employment report also showed higher earnings for workers, with average hourly wages rising from $18.31 to $18.72.
Payroll figures included the Department of Youth Affairs Summer Youth Employment Program, which provides paid internships for students.
According to GDOL, apprenticeships, youth programs, and job training remain key strategies for long-term workforce development.
Officials also noted that Guam's unemployment rate has been below the u.s. average since September 2024. The comparable June 2025 U.S. rate was 4.4%.
