Alleged drunk driver crashes in Dededo, woman hospitalized

A Dededo woman was taken to the hospital late Tuesday night after her truck was struck by a vehicle driven by a man later arrested for alleged drunk driving.
Court documents state 42-year-old Kennedui Madeus ran a red light along Route 1 near Route 3 just before midnight, slamming into the woman’s Toyota Tacoma. She complained of neck pain and was transported for further evaluation.
Police say Madeus appeared intoxicated, with bloodshot eyes and smelling strongly of alcohol. When asked for his license, he instead handed over his wife’s Palau ID card. He refused sobriety testing, stumbling and falling on an officer as he was taken into custody.
Madeus is charged with vehicular negligence with injuries as a third-degree felony, and driving while impaired as a misdemeanor.
